Cosmos Grain Location Update

As you are aware we had a hot bearing cause the receiving leg to explode on August 4th at the Cosmos grain location. The damage to the leg was catastrophic to the leg itself. Unfortunately, with the timing of the explosion and a fast-approaching harvest we are unable to source a commercial leg that would be needed for our use in a commercial elevator. Along with the age of the other equipment at Cosmos, it has been determined that the cost to replace the leg and update the facility to insurance standards is not feasible. After careful consideration, management and the board of directors have made the decision not to make the repairs to the elevator. We will remove the existing grain from the facility and the location will be put up for sale.

What does this mean for harvest?

Unfortunately, this means that we will not be receiving grain at the Cosmos elevator this harvest.

Where can you deliver grain?

We have facilities in Litchfield, Bird Island, Hector, Buffalo Lake, and Brownton that we can collaborate with you to get you set up to haul to any of those locations.

What if you still have grain in open storage or price later at Cosmos?

Please call our grain marketing line at 507-232-1049 and talk to a grain buyer, and they will assist you with that.

What will happen with the employees?

They will still have jobs at our other grain facilities.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please call our grain marketing line at 507-232-1049 and talk to one of our grain buyers.
